Terms of Use — Readaily

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Readaily's applications, websites, and services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Karteado Tecnologia LTDA ("Karteado", "we"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and Accounts

Minimum age: You must be at least 13 years old to use Readaily. Users under the age of majority in their jurisdiction require parental consent and supervision.
Minimum age for social features: Access to profiles, following, the activity feed, reviews, clubs, and nudges requires you to meet a higher minimum in some countries: 16 in Brazil, Australia, and Vietnam; 15 in South Korea; 13 elsewhere. We ask for your date of birth once in order to apply this. If you are below the threshold for your country, reading and progress tracking work normally but the social layer is unavailable to you.
Accuracy of your date of birth: You agree to give us your real date of birth. Misrepresenting your age to reach features you are not eligible for is a breach of these Terms.
Account requirements: You must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and all activities that occur under your account. Report unauthorized access immediately. Karteado may refuse or reclaim usernames that impersonate others or violate rights.
One account per person: You may not create accounts on behalf of others without authorization, or create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.

2. License and Acceptable Use

Karteado grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to install and use the Service for non-commercial purposes.

Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:

Using the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Copying, modifying, distributing, selling, or sublicensing any part of the Service.
Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the app.
Accessing the Service via automated means in ways that cause excessive load.
Transmitting malware, viruses, or any harmful code.
Impersonating any person or entity.
Bypassing technical measures or subscription mechanisms.

Violations may result in suspension or termination of access as described in Section 8.

3. User Content and Community Standards

Readaily includes a social layer. Content you create in the following places may be shown to other users, published under your display name and avatar:

Your profile — username, display name, avatar, biography, country, and reading statistics including streaks.
Your book reviews and ratings, shown on that book's page to other users.
Your activity feed posts — finishing a session, completing a book, or rating one, including any comment you attach. Feed sharing is on by default; you can turn it off before completing a session.
Book club posts and the reading progress you share within a club.
Your published bookshelf, if you choose to publish it.
Nudges you send, which deliver your first name and avatar to another user.

See section 4 of our Privacy Policy for precisely who can see what. If you want a private record of your thoughts about a book, use session notes — those are never shown to anyone.

Ownership and license: You retain ownership of content you create, but grant Karteado a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. This license ends when you remove the content, except for copies already shared with other users, retained in backups until they expire, or where we must keep them by law.
Your responsibility: You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the rights to post it. Do not post content you would not want attached to your name.
Community rules: Content that is illegal, infringing, pornographic, exploitative, hateful, harassing, defamatory, misleading, or otherwise harmful is prohibited. Doxxing, impersonation, and unsolicited spam are forbidden. Do not use nudges to harass anyone.
Moderation: Karteado may review, remove, restrict, or hide user content, and may suspend accounts, at its discretion and without obligation to monitor. We do not pre-screen content, and content you encounter in Readaily is not endorsed by us.
Reporting: You can report a user from their profile in the app, or email hello@readaily.app — email reaches us fastest and works for any kind of content. You can also block another user at any time, which removes the follow relationship in both directions.

4. Intellectual Property

Karteado's IP: The Service, its software, design, trademarks (including "Readaily"), logos, text, and graphics belong to Karteado and its licensors. You receive only the limited license described in Section 2.
Feedback: Any ideas, suggestions, or comments you provide grant Karteado a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use them without restriction or obligation to you.
Third-party content: Bibliographic data and book cover images may be licensed from third parties. External reuse requires permission from the respective rights holders.

5. Subscriptions, Trials, Billing, and Refunds

Readaily Pro: A subscription that removes advertising, unlocks Pro features, and increases the rate at which you earn Ink. Monthly and annual plans are available at the prices shown in the app for your region. Prices may change prospectively with reasonable notice.
Free trial: New subscribers get one 7-day free trial of Readaily Pro. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method is charged automatically at the then-current price. The trial is offered once per user.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the then-current price.
Payment processing: All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Karteado never receives your complete payment data.
Management and cancellation: You must manage or cancel subscriptions through the store where you purchased. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues through the period you already paid for.
Refunds: Purchases are generally non-refundable. Apple and Google handle refund requests under their own policies, and Karteado cannot issue direct refunds. This does not affect statutory rights you may have — including, for consumers in Brazil, the right of withdrawal under the Código de Defesa do Consumidor, and comparable withdrawal rights in the EU and UK.
Validation: Purchases are validated via RevenueCat. Access may be suspended if receipts fail validation, until the issue is resolved.

6. Ink and Virtual Items

Readaily includes Ink, an in-app currency, and a catalogue of cosmetic items for your bookshelf. Please read this section — virtual currency has specific rules that differ from a subscription.

What Ink is: Ink is a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use a feature of the Service. It is not money, not a stored-value or prepaid instrument, and not property. It has no monetary value, inside or outside Readaily.
Earning and buying: You earn Ink by reading. You may also buy Ink in fixed packs as a consumable in-app purchase, at the prices shown in the app. Pro subscribers receive a bonus multiplier on both earned and purchased Ink.
What Ink buys: Cosmetic items only. Ink does not buy access to reading features, and it does not buy XP or reader levels — those are earned by reading and cannot be purchased at any price. Bookshelf tiers change how your shelf looks and never gate whether a book can be shelved.
No randomized rewards: Readaily contains no loot boxes, no gacha, and no randomized or probabilistic reward mechanic. Every item has a fixed, visible price and a deterministic unlock condition, disclosed before you spend.
No transfer, no cash out: Ink and items cannot be transferred, gifted, traded, sold, or exchanged between accounts, and cannot be redeemed for money or anything of monetary value.
Purchases of Ink are final. Once credited, an Ink purchase is not refundable by Karteado, subject to your statutory rights and the store's own refund policy. Spending Ink on an item can be undone only within the brief undo window offered in the app, which returns Ink to your balance — never money.
Changes: We may add, change, or retire items, and may adjust Ink prices and earn rates going forward, to keep the economy balanced. We will not reduce Ink you have already earned or purchased other than to correct an error, a bug, or abuse.
Forfeiture: Your Ink balance and items are tied to your account. If your account is closed — by you or by us — any remaining Ink and items are forfeited without compensation. Ink does not survive account deletion, and we cannot restore it afterwards.
Anti-abuse: Manipulating the Service to generate Ink other than by genuine reading — including automation, falsified sessions, or exploiting a bug — is a breach of these Terms. We may reverse the resulting balance and suspend the account.

7. Advertising

Readaily is free to use and is funded in part by advertising. Users without a Pro subscription may see banner and interstitial ads.
Subscribing to Pro switches ads off entirely.
There are no rewarded ads — you cannot watch an ad to earn Ink, XP, or any item.
Ads are served by Google AdMob and its mediation partners. Advertised products are not endorsed or vetted by Karteado, and any dealings with an advertiser are between you and them.
What data advertising involves, and how to control it, is described in section 3 of our Privacy Policy.

8. Service and Price Changes

Karteado may add, modify, or remove features, create new plans, or change prices going forward. Material changes that negatively affect paid features or pricing will be communicated in advance, giving you the option to cancel before the change takes effect.

9. Third-Party Services and Integrations

The Service interoperates with third-party platforms, including Apple, Google (including AdMob, Google Books, and Firebase), Supabase, Clerk, RevenueCat, OneSignal, Sentry, Meta Audience Network, and AppLovin. Use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. Karteado requests only the permissions it needs and uses data only as described in our Privacy Policy. We assume no responsibility for the availability or behavior of third-party services.

10. Termination and Account Deletion

By you: You may stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, email hello@readaily.app from your account's address, or use the form at readaily.app/delete-account. We reply within 7 business days and complete deletion within 30 days. Account deletion is not yet available inside the app — we are building it, and until it ships the email route is the way.
Deleting the app is not cancelling: Removing Readaily from your device does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel through the app store where you purchased it. Paid amounts are non-refundable, subject to your statutory rights.
By Karteado: We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — for violations of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, legal or security reasons, or discontinuation of the Service. Where the law requires notice and an opportunity to appeal, you will get both; you can appeal any suspension by emailing us.
Effect of termination: Your license expires and access ceases. Your Ink balance and virtual items are forfeited (section 6). Data is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy, except where we must retain it by law. The following sections survive termination: 4 (Intellectual Property), 6 (Ink and Virtual Items, as to forfeiture and no monetary value), 11 (Warranty Disclaimers), 12 (Limitation of Liability), 13 (Indemnification), and 14 (Applicable Law).

11. Warranty Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KARTEADO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. KARTEADO MAKES NO GUARANTEES REGARDING UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION, ERROR-FREE SERVICE, ABSENCE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR FITNESS FOR ANY SPECIFIC NEED.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KARTEADO AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND PARTNERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, NOR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL. WHERE SUCH EXCLUSION IS UNAVAILABLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, KARTEADO'S TOTAL LIABILITY IS CAPPED AT THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO KARTEADO IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Karteado, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; or (c) your content or infringement of third-party rights.

14. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and your use of the Service are governed by Brazilian law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes is the courts of São Paulo, Brazil, except where consumer protection laws grant you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. Either party may seek provisional measures before a competent court for intellectual property or confidentiality violations.

15. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time — when we add or change a feature, or to reflect a change in law.

How we tell you. Every updated version is published at readaily.app/terms with a revised "Last Updated" date. For material changes — anything that meaningfully affects your rights, your subscription, your content, or how we handle your personal data — we will also email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and show an in-app notice where we can. That email will state plainly what changed and the date it takes effect, and link to the full updated Terms. We send it to every account, because it is a service notice rather than marketing — turning off marketing emails does not turn it off.

If you keep using Readaily. Continuing to use the Service on or after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can decline by leaving before that date — stop using Readaily, cancel any subscription through your app store, and delete your account (section 10). Cancelling before your next renewal means you are not charged for it.

Minor changes — fixing a typo, clarifying wording, updating a contact address — take effect when published, without individual notice.

16. General Provisions

Entire agreement: These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any feature-specific terms constitute the complete agreement between you and Karteado.
Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. Karteado may assign them through a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or by operation of law.
Non-waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement rights.
Severability: If any clause is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Language: The English version of these Terms prevails in the event of a translation conflict, unless local law requires otherwise.
Force majeure: Karteado is not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside its reasonable control.
