Features · Focus while reading

Read without your phone pulling you away

The easiest way to read without phone distractions is to make the phone part of the plan. Readaily starts a timed reading session and, with Focus Mode, silences notifications for exactly as long as you read, using a Focus on iPhone and Do Not Disturb on Android, then hands them back when you stop.

For most people, the problem isn’t finding the book. It is reading two pages and then checking the phone that is sitting right next to it. A notification arrives, then another, and the evening’s reading turns into the evening’s scrolling.

Make reading time a protected block

Readaily treats a reading session as a block of time with a start and an end. That makes it easy to protect:

  • Start a session and pick how long you’ll read.
  • Focus Mode turns on a Focus on iPhone or Do Not Disturb on Android for exactly that long.
  • The session ends, notifications come back, and you log the page you reached.

On iPhone, a Live Activity keeps the timer on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you never unlock the phone just to check how long is left.

Small habits that help

  • Put the phone face down, out of reach. The session keeps running without you looking at it.
  • Read at the same time every day. A fixed slot, like after dinner or before bed, needs less willpower than “when I have time”.
  • Start smaller than you think. Ten focused minutes beat forty distracted ones. Readaily’s daily goal can start at a few minutes.
  • Keep the next book ready. Gaps between books are where habits break.

Reading ebooks on your phone

If you read on the same phone, start the session in Readaily and then switch to your reading app. The timer keeps going, and Focus Mode keeps the notifications away from your page.

Free and Pro

The reading timer, goals and streaks are free. Focus Mode and Smart Sessions are part of Readaily Pro, with a 7-day free trial.

Questions

Does Readaily block other apps?

Readaily's Focus Mode silences notifications during a reading session (a Focus on iPhone, Do Not Disturb on Android). It does not lock you out of other apps.

Is Focus Mode free?

Focus Mode is part of Readaily Pro, along with Smart Sessions, unlimited active books and clubs, and no ads. The reading timer itself is free.

Do I miss important calls while reading?

Readaily uses your phone's own Focus (iPhone) or Do Not Disturb (Android), so the exceptions you have set up there, such as favourite contacts, keep working.

Does this work with ebooks on the same phone?

Yes. Start the session in Readaily, switch to your ebook app, and the session keeps running; on iPhone a Live Activity shows the time on the Lock Screen.

Try it with the book you’re reading

Readaily is free on iPhone and Android. Add your current book, set a goal you’ll actually keep, and start your first session tonight.
