Comparison · Readaily vs Goodreads
Readaily vs Goodreads: a catalogue or a habit?
Goodreads is the largest book catalogue and review network, free with ads and owned by Amazon; it is built for shelving books, rating them and following a yearly reading challenge. Readaily is an independent reading habit app: it times your reading sessions, tracks pages and a daily streak, and runs private book clubs. Many readers use Goodreads to discover books and Readaily to actually read them.
Both apps help you keep track of books, but they answer different questions. Goodreads answers “what should I read, and what did others think?”. Readaily answers “how do I actually read a little every day?”.

Where Goodreads is better
- The catalogue and the reviews. Goodreads has a far bigger collection of reader ratings and reviews than any other app, which makes it very good for deciding what to read next.
- The social network. Comments, messages, groups and a long history of friends’ activity.
- The web. You can use Goodreads on a computer; Readaily is mobile only.
- It is completely free. There is no paid tier.
Where Readaily is better
- Reading every day. A reading timer, a daily goal and a gentle streak, and one reminder at the time you choose. Goodreads tracks what you finished; Readaily helps you get there.
- Time, not just books. Readaily records how long you read and your pages per hour, so it can tell you how long the rest of the book will take.
- Quiet clubs. Readaily clubs are private, and members see each other’s progress as a percentage instead of a public feed.
- Fewer distractions. With Pro, Focus Mode silences notifications while you read.
- Not Amazon. If you prefer that your reading data stays outside the Amazon ecosystem, Readaily is independent.
Can you use both?
Yes, and plenty of readers do: Goodreads to find the next book and read reviews, Readaily to time sessions, keep the streak and finish the book. Keep in mind that Readaily does not import your Goodreads shelves yet, so you would add your current books by scanning or searching.
Questions
Is Readaily a replacement for Goodreads?
Only partly. Readaily covers tracking, stats, reviews and clubs, but it does not have Goodreads' huge public catalogue of reader reviews, and it cannot import your Goodreads shelves yet. If daily reading is your goal, Readaily does that better; if browsing millions of reviews is, Goodreads does.
Is Goodreads owned by Amazon?
Yes. Goodreads' own privacy notice says Goodreads LLC is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc.; Amazon announced the acquisition in March 2013.
Does Goodreads have a reading timer or streaks?
Not as of October 2026, according to its app store listings and help center. Goodreads offers a yearly Reading Challenge (a number of books) instead.
Can I import my Goodreads library into Readaily?
Not yet. Readaily does not import from Goodreads today; you add the books you are reading by ISBN scan or search.
